my daughter Maya, singing...

My daughter Maya (44) is on the board of a Pacifica-affiliate radio station in Bellows Falls VT: WOOL-FM "Black Sheep Radio" http://www.wool.fm (100.1 FM) where she co-hosts the "Sometimes Live" program featuring singer-songwriters.

She's a singer-songwriter, too, & has just sent me the link to her MySpace Music website http://www.myspace.com/mayacostley where she's just posted 4 blues songs she sang at an a cappella women's concert in early June 2007 ("Women Divine: Live at Boccelli's" Boccelli's On The Canal, Bellows Falls, VT)

I sing a cappella with the San Jose Peace Chorale; Renaisance madrigals, Romantic & contemporary art songs in the now annual "Poetry in Song:" concert at Saint Mark's Episcopal church here in Santa Clara CA, but I don't dare sing a cappella solo, so Maya's daring to go solo really impresses me. I'm deeply moved by her a cappella voice & wrote her that it's "pure, still, strong, & overwhelming." Go listen to it.

bill: you always reminded me of a resemblance to 3 people: jack london in facial appearance, and james joyce in literary perspectives (borges in descriptive style); and now in your singing like james joyce--a tenor. imagine going to a concert and seeing on the program,
"sung by james joyce." i want to be there if i can add time travel to my repertoire.

Actually, I'm a bass-baritone, not a tenor. btw, Joyce once competed against then internationally famous operatic tenor John McCormack...& lost. A concert program with Joyce's name on it is quite a collector's item.
